“ Hyang Yeon BBQ Korean Restaurant Date of visit 2019 Nov 18. Time of visit 6.15 pm to 8.55 pm. Food 10. Portion 10 (buffet). Price 8/10 ($30 to $40, include 10% gst, 7% service charge). Service 9. Air Conditioning 9. Smoke Ventilation 10. Ambience 10. Food: Ordered 3 a-la-carte BBQ buffet courses for 3 adults. This is the most pricey option which provides a wide variety of dishes ranging from fresh salad, drinks, appetizers, savoury soup stew, premium meat (such as sirloin meat, kurobuta pork collar, beef short rib, prawn, squid, baby octopus) to free flow fresh BBQ meat (pork belly, spicy pork belly, thinly sliced beef, marinated pork collar, garlic chicken, spicy chicken, soy chicken). Note that the appetizers and premium meat only come in 1 portion per pax. For the appetizer, my group picked Japchae (glass noodle) (7/10), seafood pancake (8/10) and steam egg (8/10). I picked the sirloin steak (10/10) kurobuta pork collar (10/10) and squid (5/10). The clear seafood toufu soup stew (10/10) was also savoury with prawn, shrimp, cockles, cuttlefish, mushroom, cucumber. Service: Service is slow but steady. They take a while to serve each of the appetizers, premium meat and the stew. But I didn't mind as we could take our time to slowly savour each dish that came in conjunction with the unlimited flow of BBQ meat. The waiter or waitresses were quite prompt to serve when we requested for additional plates of raw meat. Air Conditioning: The air conditioning was ok, not too cold or not too warm. I did not sweat throughout the time eating piping hot BBQ food and steamboat. The temperature was also not so cold, hence the food did not cool down rapidly after the BBQ. Smoke Ventilation: The fantastic ventilation system ensured that there was almost no grill smoke that strayed onto the seats and consumers. My bag was placed on one of the seats and it remained free of BBQ smell, and the hair and clothes had very little smell as well. Ambience: Overall, the restaurant presented a simple, homely rustic wooden theme that was pleasing to the eye. Each group of customers were divided by a wooden partition with checkered opening design. Lighting was adequate and presented delicious fresh food. The table was also large and generous to allow quite a number of plates of raw meat together with appetizers, stew, sauces and individual utensils. There was no background music and no televisions to distract the meal. ”
“ Probably my favourite korean place. Price is reasonable and food is great. The lunch set came with a huge bottle of barley tea (you can opt for soft drinks too) and 4 side dishes which you can choose. Staff were Korean too. Highly recommended! ”
